"The
Church of Scotland adheres to the Scottish Reformation; receives the Word of God which is contained in the Scriptures of the
Old and New Testaments as its supreme rule of faith and life; and avows the fundamental doctrines of the Catholic¹
faith founded thereupon."² We hold the The Westminster Confession
of Faith as our subordinate standard (for further information, please see The Church
of Scotland). Whilst realising that our individual and corporate faith can never fully be expressed in words, we affirm that
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of
heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended
to the dead. On the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the
Father, And He will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, The holy catholic¹ Church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting.
Amen.
¹ "Catholic" here refers to the complete, whole
church, comprised of Christians in heaven and on earth.
